Please enjoy some fantastic photos of our program in action!
Preschool Show & Tell is a time to get up and feel comfortable talking to your friends! Allowing children to get used to being up in front and speaking or showing is a great way to help them not feel nervous in child care as the crowds grow larger in Kindergarten. Hooray for Pre k!
We believe that all members of our community are what make it special. With visitors coming to see our preschool from the Yorktown Heights community such as the firemen, police, librarian and so many others, our students get to see what makes a neighborhood in real life. Child care hours yet with a pre k education!
Oh the things you can learn from a recipe! We know there is lots to learn with all the science and math involved, so we do this often in our Preschool groups.
Art in pre k comes from an individual child's perspective and we believe it should look that way. Why not include friends too? Child care and Preschool should allow and support creativity and learning.
Breaking into small learning groups, we take a pace that is appropriate to each learner in our group. We utilize this format of learning in all the key cognitive areas of development. Children who are ahead will be in a faster paced group while children needing extra support will move at a more appropriate pace.
Supplementation of our science units in Preschool is just one of the ways we keep the learning hands on. Monthly visits from the nature center with live animals keep children engaged in our pre k and toddler classrooms
Our Preschool & Toddler outdoor time is spent in the grass, right where nature intended it to be! With two large outdoor play yards, there is no time limit! Science outside? Why not!? Lunch outdoors or maybe circle time? Absolutely! Yorktown Heights has lots of fresh air!
We make a mess in preschool so you don't have to! Sensory play is very important for developing children in child care and their fine motor muscles, so we make sure we make loads of messes.
Cashier, fireman, teacher, mommy, daddy, you can be whoever you want to be and more in our dramatic play areas.
Weather, calendar, story, and lots of chatting happens at this very important time of day. .
Did you do your job today? Every member of our classroom is a member of our community and we all know community workers have jobs. So we do too!
With science and math being at the forefront of a good education, we take our approach to STEM learning seriously. Codeable bee bots in our classrooms and so much more are available for this important cognitive area.
During this time, there are less structured activities happening so we can greet parents and students to get ready for our day.
This is the time to find out what is on the agenda for the day. Do we have a visitor? Did you get your job today? This is the time for learning all about whats to come.
Time to have some yummy breakfast!
Did you hear what the weather is today? If you have our weather job, you are about to make predictions for us. Maybe you prefer to do the calendar? If so, its your time to shine! So much time to learn about so many things and read some great stories. How many things can you name that start with A? How about things that are blue?
The way you spend this time will all depend what level small group you are in. Maybe you can hop to a shape, maybe you can already write letters. Can you count to 10 or maybe 100!? Your child is grouped according to their ability and never their age! Lets feel good about what we know and where we are going with what we know!
Is it open ended art, is it directive based? So many decisions and so much fun to have during this time.
Outdoors whenever possible
Its time to have a yummy lunch!
Are we tired, you bet we are! Children will be given the opportunity to nap at this time. Non- nappers will work on age appropriate activities.
Wake up and stretch, story time.
Whats on the agenda today for science? Could be so many things! Tending to our garden, checking our seeds, color experiments, cooking, or watching our butterflies grow are just a few items if could be.
Who's hungry? Its snack time!
Lets play some games together!
A great time to find a center and make fun art with friends or even build train tracks together.
Free play as friends go home.
